President Ali Bongo Ondimba has hosted Central African sub regional leaders during an extraordinary summit in Libreville in Gabon which focused on reinforcing security.
In the presence of Rwanda’s Paul Kagame, the heads of state brainstormed on measures to tackle terrorism in the region.
Particular emphasis was laid on ways to quench the Boko Haram rebellion which has caused a wide range of havoc in Central Africa countries.
The leaders took the commitment to continue the fight in the same light and saluted joint efforts made so far in combating the sect.
Further attention was paid on the political instability in Burundi, the Central African Republic and the DR Congo. The leaders called on Central African Republic rebels to drop their arms and support the peace process.
The reelection of Ali Bongo Ondimba was also on the menu, with Bongo emphasizing that he wants to build an inclusive government.
Although the summit was held in the presence of 4 heads of state, a total of 11 countries were present with some represented by either their prime ministers or ministers of foreign Affairs.
